3rd re-occuring brush fire of the year - 12210 Cygnet Lane
Wednesday, July 4, 2018
At 04:56 hours Bishopville was alerted to the area of 12210 Cygnet Lane for a outside fire across from that residence. Units went responding shortly after and were familiar with the area as this year since April there has been three fires in the same location. As well as multiple fires in the location years prior. Most occurring around the same time in early morning hours.
950 arrived on location establishing the command, advised there was a 50x50 area of woods on fire. Brush 9 arrived shortly after and began attacking the fire with a booster line, with crews assisting with containing it with rakes. Engine Tanker 907 and Engine 906 assisted in wetting the area down with deck gun operations. All units cleared the scene at approximately 05:40 hours. Worcester County Fire Marshal's Office is currently handling the investigation on the re-occurring fires in the area.
The Bishopville Volunteer Fire Department would like to remind you when discarding of your cigarettes to make sure they are completely out, refrain from disposing of them from moving vehicles, and in wooded areas.
